NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL TAYLOR!
73.2
second birthday
album for taylor.
originally
planned to be much longer, this proved to be our
last birthday album we ever recorded (with the exception of the very
short ava ep from fall 2004, but that came much later). we were very
tired with birthday albums, especially because more and more of our
friends were demanding them, and they began to take up all of our
time. at first we decided that we would stop recording albums for
members of the band, to give us more time to make albums for our
friends. but even that wasn't enough. this album showed a lot of
potential for future birthday recordings (as we put a superb amount of
effort into the songs), but unfortunately they may have been the last
straw. in fact, these were probably the last songs we recorded until the
"yes" album in the spring of 2005.
anyway, the idea for this project was to create a fake compilation of
fake 90's hits, which we would then give to the real taylor. ideally
he would then be real-impressed and finally admit that he liked our
band for real. the album was a semi-success.
01
the taylors - rhyme and reason (taylor kingsbury cover)
taylor
once told us that we were never allowed to cover this song. we did anyway,
and he liked it!
02 the autistics - back and forth again
03
the taylors - reason and rhyme
a backwards
version of "rhyme and reason." a fun activity is to try to figure
out what
it sounds like taylor is saying! to get you started, the first line sounds
a lot like "hey,
i'm zero to anybody."
04
dog bowl - lost forever (zeal cover)
taylor
was in a band called zeal when he was in high school. they were awesome.
05
knightshade - glacier of frozen tears
our masterpiece.
just listen to the part when the trombone comes in!
lineup: ana, arthur, dan, foodbag, indie rock matt, regular matt
